Deodorant Ingredients
Having scared myself by reading my deodorant ingredients, I have to say that I whole-heartedly agree with her, only in this case, I have resolved not to put anything on my body that has ingredient names that I can’t pronounce.
Most of the deodorant ingredients that you find these days are bad for you in some way or other, and although some of them might only be used in minute amounts and therefore alright to use, isn’t it true that we use our deodorants every single day, year after year?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it true that even a minute amount of toxins, if taken on a long term basis, will have an effect on our system? And that’s where the confusion and the denials begin, and throw people off the scent. Yes, claim the scientists and other associated people, this is perfectly true, because even a small amount of toxins taken over a long period of time, can add up to something bigger.
But, and this is where the tap dancing begins, it has not been conclusively proven that any of the deodorant ingredients that you find on the labeling are toxic to man (or woman). We need more proof to tell us that the deodorant ingredients we use now can be harmful to human beings.
Need I remind anyone that up until a few years ago arsenic was commonly used in households, and let’s not even go into the whole CFC thing. How many times do we need to be hit over the head with these things before we wise up?
With the turn of the twentieth century however, there has been a positive trend, and people now seem to lean more towards natural products, and to stay away from the chemical laden products that we are bombarded with.
Although the majority of the people have yet to be convinced on the matter either way, it is uplifting indeed to see the numbers of those willing to turn away from these chemical laden products, swell the ranks of those already existing people.
And to think that on my part at least, it all started because I took the time one day to read the deodorant ingredients on something that I had been using ever since I hit puberty. Makes you stop and think, doesn’t it?

Roman Costume and Clothing Tips
Get Your Eras Correct
The Romans were in power for close to a thousand years - first, the Roman Republic and then the Roman Empire. One thousand years is a long time, and during that period, fashions changed and styles differed, so elements of your costume could be outdated. Before you put together your wardrobe, make sure you're not sporting the hairstyle of a 4th century AD noblewoman with the tunic and dress of a 100 BC peasant woman.
Get Beyond the Toga
Again, dressing up in Roman clothing is about more than throwing a sheet over your body. Yes, the Romans wore togas, but only citizens of Rome were allowed to wear one - and when they wore it, they would often include a tunic underneath. So, remember to be historically accurate and get your costume choices correct.

A Close Look at Halloween Masks
Labels: Beauty Products, clothing, Cosmetics, Hair Care, Hair Removal, Jewelry, Nail Care, Skin Care, Weddings
The good
One of the best aspects of Halloween masks is that they disguise who you are quite thoroughly. Whether you choose a Halloween mask that covers your entire face and head, or just a portion, the final effect of either is that it alters the shape of you face. This can make it even more difficult to recognize you than it would be with merely face paint.
Another positive of Halloween masks is that they are very simple to use. If you paint your face, you will need a good deal of time, patience, and some artistic talent to get the right effect. With a Halloween mask, you simply slip it on and you are ready to go.
Masks can also be an inexpensive costume idea. By wearing a solid colored outfit and slipping on a mask, you can instantly become the character that the mask represents – other accessories are optional. You can even combine Halloween masks with your everyday clothing to become a zombie doctor, a cat who is a chef, or other unique idea.
The bad
Halloween masks can be dangerous if they are worn improperly. Special care should be taken to make sure that the mask does not block your vision or your breathing. This is particularly true with children's costumes, since an improperly fitting mask could cause them to injure themselves while out trick or treating. You will want to try the mask on to make sure that it fits properly before wearing it on Halloween night. Remove masks when driving to ensure that you are able to see properly.
Halloween masks can also be hot, so if your Halloween evening will be spent in a warmer climate or a crowded party room you may become uncomfortable rather quickly. If you feel that you are overheating, remove your mask. Also make sure that you drink plenty of water during your Halloween celebrations.
While Halloween masks can be an inexpensive alternative to a full costume, they can also become quite pricey. The more detailed a mask is, the higher the price tag will often be. So if you are on a budget, you may have to settle for a less detailed Halloween mask, or an alternative like face painting, to achieve a similar effect.
Halloween masks can be an excellent addition to your Halloween costume, but they are not the perfect solution for everyone. Only you can decide if this Halloween accessory is right for you. If you purchase a mask and decide later on that it is not as comfortable or as safe as you would like, you can also use it as a creepy way to decorate your home.
2008 Handbag Trends for Men
Labels: Beauty Products, clothing, Cosmetics, Hair Care, Hair Removal, Jewelry, Nail Care, Skin Care, Weddings
Just think about it, guys. While it is probably true that for many years we didn’t have to carry as much stuff around with us as the fairer sex, more often than not we had enough goods to make our pockets feel slightly uncomfortable. Pens and paper, Kleenex, chapstick (oh yes you DO use it), sunglasses, wallets, gum, mints, etc. all had to be secreted away on our persons in a way that would make any samurai warrior proud, but left us with a lot of fashion faux pas (is that a cigar in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?).
Well, it is 2008 and it seems as though the idea of the manbag has finally begun to catch on even with guys who consider themselves rugged individuals. The problem is that for the most part, we are not yet ready to embrace the accessorizing factors that are such a big factor with the ladies. The good news is that when it comes to handbag trends for men, the big designers are aware of our self-imposed limits and have acted accordingly.
In order to overcome our sense of manliness, handbag designers are drawing up manbags that any guy can feel comfortable carrying. These bags most often emulate the simple design of a laptop bag or a tote bag, and may even come looking like a soft briefcase. They are available in “manly business colours such as brown and black, suitable to any business occasion.
If you want a piece of utilitarian fashion that makes it possible for you to carry and easily access all of your most important items (and in the New Millennium the list is bigger than ever before – ever try to fit a cell phone, a blackberry, the chargers, etc. into your pockets), then the manbag is probably the best choice for you. Thanks to discrete designs, it’s not a big stretch for even the most self conscious of men.
If your guilty pleasure is leather luxury handbags, then your collection isn’t complete without a , with its casual roomy interior.

Sanibel Chico's Is As Special as the Island Itself
Labels: Beauty Products, clothing, Cosmetics, Hair Care, Hair Removal, Jewelry, Nail Care, Skin Care, Weddings
Since then, I have shopped in Chico's around the country, but nothing approached the fun of that first Sanibel Chico's excursion, nor did the merchandise appeal as much.
So I can't say that I love Chico's as strongly as I can say I love the Chico's on Sanibel.
And I guess I am not alone as the tiny island has been able to support not just one but two shops, though I must confess to only shopping in the original Chico's on Palm Ridge. There, the store manager entices me with tales of the founding of Chico's and resolved my confusion with the name.
Since chico in Spanish means boy, I was initially surprised that the store is solely women's apparel. But the manager showed me who the real Chico was, and that not only dismissed my confusion but added to the charm of shopping in the original store.
In the current economy, despite the great merchandising of Chico's, I am concerned that an island the size of Sanibel could continue to sustain two shops with the same name and both selling only women's clothing.
It certainly has been national news that other enterprises from Starbucks to CompUSA have closed some of their stores. And there have been hints such as those posted on Floridatrend.com that Chico's net profits have been falling.
Which leaves me feeling bad that an annual tradition I began with the first shopping spree was abandoned on this recent stay on Sanibel. Though each visit to the Island has til now been combined with a visit to the store, our own personal financial concerns deterred me from going shopping in the usual manner.
I hope to make up for this lapse on our next vacation. And, if you want to discover who the real Chico is, I encourage you to go to the store and ask to see Chico's picture.
Oh, and while you're there, pick up an item or two so that we can assure that Sanibel's Chico's does not join the growing roster of store closings!

Bulletproof Vest Interest Continues
Labels: Beauty Products, clothing, Cosmetics, Hair Care, Hair Removal, Jewelry, Nail Care, Skin Care, Weddings
Kelly, upfront and gracious as always, told me that piece would be fairly short and air within the first 15 minutes of the newscast. Out of the sound bites I offered them, Fox 35 picked my sentiments that agencies should make wearing a bulletproof vest part of a mandatory officer safety policy.
Luckily for the deputy sheriffs who were shot (remember, this was the incident that sparked the interest in law enforcement bulletproof vests), they wore their vests. One deputy took a round to the left chest and the vest stopped it.
Maybe these segments will encourage more officers to wear their vests and perhaps budget managers at smaller agencies will see the need to supply all officers with bulletproof vests. You can view the Fox 35 10:00 News video below.

6 Reasons Why Hair Transplant Surgery Is Not For Everyone
Here are 6 reasons they give for their dissatisfaction.
1. Creating Scars. All hair transplant surgery will create small scars. Some people find them unacceptable. They want to wear their hair short, and they see the scar peeking out from under their hair, even if no one else does.
Of course, there are also physicians with poor skills who create large scars and people who are prone to scarring. Hair transplant scars are a sore subject for man people.
2. Underestimating Procedures. Certain surgeons and clinics underestimate the number of procedures necessary to achieve the desired effect. This leads people to have a false hope of having a full head of hair in a very short time.
When this does not happen, they are understandably angry. They did not get what they were promised.
3. Underestimating Price. Surgeons usually do give some sort of estimate of the cost of the entire procedure of a hair transplant. A reputable surgeon will emphasize that it is only an estimate and that things may change once the procedures are started.
Also, she will give an honest accounting of what she expects the procedure to cost.
An unscrupulous surgeon, on the other hand, will distort the facts about his hair transplant procedures. He will try to get the patient started by stating that the price will be very low.
He will know all along that the procedures will cost much more, but he will lowball the price anyway just to get the patient started so that they have to finish.
4. Uneven hairlines. Some people who have hair transplant surgery end up with uneven hairlines. This is caused by the oversight of negligent doctors. If a person gets to work with a reputable surgeon, things like this just do not happen.
However, if someone has seen a person with this problem, it will likely turn them off to hair transplant surgery for good.
5. Doctors Who Put Money above the Patients' Interest. Any doctors who make decisions that are not based on the welfare of his patient are following their Hippocratic Oath in its intentions.
Doctors are held to a high standard and when a surgeon tries to convince a patient to get hair transplant surgery when it is not best for him, he is not really acting as a doctor should. The horror stories are out there and many people are aware of them.
6. Old-Fashioned Plugs. People with the large plugs that look like doll's hair or toothbrush bristles are still around. While this type of hair transplant is rarely done anymore, the effects are still evident among people of a certain age.
If someone who knows one of these people has a balding problem, they are not likely to think of hair transplants. The only way they would is if they have some other, good, experience with them.
Also there is a higher rate of suicide following hair transplant and other cosmetic surgeries. This is partly because the patients are disappointed that their lives do not miraculously change overnight.

The Ethical Fashion Show
The concept of ethical fashion is simple. It refers to fashion that incorporates positive ethical practices such as environment conservation, fair trade and fair wages, healthy and safe working conditions for labourers, limited use of pesticides, use of recyclable material, ensuring no harm to flora and fauna, preservation of traditional skills, etc. The Ethical Fashion Show aims to promote the concept of ethical fashion and spread awareness about it.
This Fashion Show is an attempt to inspire people to give a thought to social and environmental factors before deciding to go for a particular fashion product. It also aims to inculcate among fashionistas a sense of sympathy for everyone and everything directly or indirectly associated with the fashionable products that they use. In other words, it attempts to convey the message - 'Fashion is possible even with high ethical values.'
The Ethical Fashion Show was launched in the year 2004 by Paris-based designer Isabelle Quehe, which was very well accepted by fashion designers all over the globe. The event has consequently been held every year, with enthusiastic participation from designers worldwide. Continuing this tradition, the Ethical Fashion Show has been organized this year at the Carrousel du Louvre, Paris, in the year 2008. It has been scheduled for the period from 9th to 12th October, 2008, of which the first two days have been reserved for trade shows and the next two have been slotted for the general public.
In the year 2007, the event was attended by over 4500 visitors in total, 48% of which were comprised of national and international buyers, 25% of media, 22% general public and 5% other categories. It is anticipated that approximately 100 fashion designers from all over the world would attend the event this year. The best ethical designer would be awarded by a jury, consisting of professionals from the fashion industry.
Apart from ramp shows, the Ethical Fashion Show 2008 will also feature conferences and round table discussions among industry experts on the subject of ethical fashion. The exhibition this year is planned to be on the theme of 'Globe-trotting colour'. Danish fashion designer Leila Hafzi and Betty de Paris, a natural colorist, are scheduled to present their collections as a part of this event. This would be followed by a show by Takashiro Senko, indigo master from Japan, among displays by other experts.
The Brazilian brand Modafusion would be presenting a collection of colourful dresses for women produced by co-operatives from Rio. UK-based designer Ada Zanditon would present her collection of ethically produced garments, accompanied by a display of designs for working women by French designer Céline Faizant. Eliza Gabriel would be showcasing the special kind of cloth produced by her, by the name of 'Petals', which are available in the shape of flowers. This cloth can be used to make various kinds of items, such as purses, hats and belts. She would also be presenting her 'Noir Tropical' collection, which is based on the romantic costumes of Spanish heroines.
Jewellery designer Estrella Bijoux would be presenting her collection of fashion jewellery made from recycled material. This would be accompanied by Marcello Toshi presenting his collection of fashionable shoes.
To commemorate the 5th anniversary of the show, it is planned to launch a special fashion magazine by the name of 'Ethical Fashion'. It will focus on articles, reports as well as photographs on ethical fashion and its adoption all over the world, as well as on adopting sustainable lifestyles.
How to Easily Find the Perfect Pair of Sunglasses for You
Labels: Beauty Products, clothing, Cosmetics, Hair Care, Hair Removal, Jewelry, Nail Care, Skin Care, Weddings
1. Narrow down your shades style. You think there is just one style of sunglasses? All you have to do is start looking around the next time you go out during the day to see examples of the plethora of styles out there. What is your sunglasses style? Are you chic and sophisticated, athletic and sporty, or into novelty of goofy sunglasses? There are designers who create styles for every look out there, like Gargoyles sunglasses are great for sports enthusiasts and D&G sunglasses are great for the sophisticated look.
2. Decide the level of eyewear protection you need. Look closely at what protection your potential sunglasses will be giving you. One of the biggest reasons we get sunglasses is to protect our eyesight, so if you have picked out glasses that are mainly tinted lenses with little UVA & UVB protection, then you may want to move on to a pair that takes care of your little peepers more. You only get one set of eyes, so when investing in new regular or polarized sunglasses, get ones that can help maintain optimum vision health.
3. How much do you want to spend? Almost everyone is on a budget of some kind, and how big or oossunglasses or Revo's if your budget is more like $100. Maybe you only want to spend $50 or less, or maybe you don't care what the price is if you love the shades. It doesn't really matter what your budget is, as long as you figure it out before you go shopping. Nothing feels worse than falling in love with a pair of sunglasses and thinking you can't live without them and finding out they are completely out of your price range. This is where you can get into trouble! If you know what your price range is, you can shop at stores or online and narrow your scope down to what you are willing to spend and not look at all those that aren't in your budget.
So don't be shy about taking care of your eyesight with a great new pair of sunglasses. If you follow these simple tips to streamline the buying process, you'll find the perfect pair of designer sunglasses with the right style, protection level and you can do it at a price you want.

Can you Wear Gray Eye Shadow?
Labels: Beauty Products, clothing, Cosmetics, Hair Care, Hair Removal, Jewelry, Nail Care, Skin Care, Weddings
Take three shades of gray that work great each other and have fun! Mix and match, pastels and deep rich shades of gray, or trade out the deep rich gray for a chocolate brown.
Start off by applying a soft wash of gray all over the lid all the way up to your brow-line.
Then take you a medium shade of gray, apply it from the lash line to the crease. If daytime stay light handed with the color, nighttime feel free to go darker.
Take the third shade of gray and load up your brush and press the color into your crease moving from the outer to the inner corner.
Blend the deeper shade so that it extends a bit above and below the crease. When using mineral eye shadows you press or pat the color onto your lid or it tends to go everywhere! And also remember when using mineral eye shadows a little go a long way!
When you have the eye shadow colors looking like you like, now its time to apply your eye liner. Daytime you can go without eyeliner but night time, you need eyeliner!
Not everyone can pull off wearing eye liner so try this simple trick with applying it. Using your non-dominant hand, start by gently stretching the outer corner of the lash line, angling it up slightly to separate your lashes. Anchor your elbow of your dominant hand on a table, and using your pencil draw tiny dots of color between your individual lashes.
If you are applying your eyeliner wet, then using a flat end brush apply your wet eyeliner the same way as before only place the flat end brush at the base of your lashes and draw out. You can also place your ring finger and the crease of your eye lid and pulling up so slightly till you see the base of your eye lashes and then apply the wet eyeliner there. It helps make your eyelashes look fuller and darker without looking like you are wearing eyeliner. You need a eyeliner that is waterproof for that tip.
Curl your eyelashes because this simple tip opens up your eyes! Apply your mascara in two coats and there you go! But if you really want those eyes to stand out, don't forget your Magic Lash when applying your mascara. Full lush lashes are a must!
With the softer shades of gray eye shadows, you can wear lip sticks or lip glosses with more color than if you are going for the smoky eyes look. The reason is smoky eyes stand out best with nude lips, soft sheer shades of gray can take the color.

Gieves & Hawkes AW08 suits.
The campaign shots look very refreshing and are very relevant to younger fashion conscious under the age of 40. Since G&H are obviously trying to etch themselves onto the hearts of people between 20-35 years of age they better start offering some student discount of some sorts because their suits aren’t exactly bargains. Their top selling three piece gray suit look very compelling but the £650 is quite a hurdle, especially when the sales guy will hustle you into buying a shirt to go with it. 15-20% Discount would ease purchase decision for many fashion loving academics. With a student grant at their disposal a fine quality suit to wear during a life time is an unregrettable purchase. After all isn’t this what students use their grants for, buying a new cell phone, laptop or wardrobe?

Will Consumers Pay a Premium for Eco-labeled Apparel?
Labels: Beauty Products, clothing, Cosmetics, Hair Care, Hair Removal, Jewelry, Nail Care, Skin Care, Weddings
An eco-label is displayed on products that have met the quality assurance environmental standards of a third party. This label shows consumers that the product that they are buying was made with as small of an environmental footprint as possible. It also shows that there are no chemicals or other toxic residues on the fabric. Because of these guarantees, an eco-label is worth a higher price for many concerned buyers.
Consumers today are motivated to live healthy lives. If a product offers better health, then a consumer is more willing to pay a higher price. After all, good health is priceless. With cancer causes being linked to environmental toxins and chemicals, buyers are looking for products that are free of these destructive materials. Clothing is a major concern because it touches a person's skin, and any chemicals on clothing can be absorbed through the pores of the body. Consumers are willing to pay a premium for clothing that has not been treated with chemicals or grown with pesticides. The health of the consumer is linked with the health of the environment. Because polluted waterways and carbon emissions directly affect the health of the human race, these issues are a grave concern for those who want to live a healthy lifestyle.
Taking care of the environment is a big issue for modern day consumers. They want to know that the products they buy were made with the least possible amount of carbon emissions and pollution. Textile factories are culprits when it comes to polluted waterways. The process of creating fabric for clothing is fraught with carbon emissions, harsh chemicals, and pollution. This is concerning for those who are worried about the long-term effects that current manufacturing methods may have on the environment.
Even more disturbing to tender-hearted consumers are the appalling stories of working conditions in sweat shops around the world. Children being beaten and forced to work hours at a time for mere pennies a day is cause enough for many consumers to pay more for their clothing. Pictures of exhausted workers who are forced to work overtime without extra compensation makes consumers indignant. If this is the price of cheap clothing, consumers would rather pay more for their clothes.
The same is true of animals. Consumers would rather know that the animals who furnished their wool and silk clothing were treated humanely. The practice of raising silkworms and killing them before they break out of their cocoons is objectionable to many consumers. These consumers will pay more to see an eco-label certifying that no animals were harmed in the production of their clothing.
Peace of mind is worth every penny. Knowing that clothing is free of chemicals and was produced in an environmentally responsible way is worth the premium. Consumers have learned to look for popular eco-labels such as AIAB Bio Fibre, Certified Humane Raised and Handled, and GreenSafe Mark. You can find out more information about eco-labels at greensafemark.com.
