Indian Cancer Society (ICS) and Lakmé come together for a second consecutive year to promote awareness and support victims of cancer by a Fund-Raiser’Fashion Fights Cancer 2008 “. The fund-raiser event will be held on December 21 at Taj Palace, New Delhi.
The highlights on “Fashion Fights Cancer 2008″ will showcase the much acclaimed Sabyasachi Bridal Collection Sutra, the applause at Lakmé Fashion Week’s grand finale, which will Sabyasachi show in the first four years in the capital. Ex-Miss India and painter Anjana Kuthiala painting is also part of a silent auction at the fund-raiser. The 3ft X 4ft painting is dominated by green and orange colors compliment to the bride Sutra Collection.
The money will be used for the replacement of aging equipment on the cancer-screening center, run the (outreach) mobile screening unit, as well as pay for assistance to cancer patients in drug treatment.
Speaking about the initiative, Jyotsna Govil, Hon Additional Secretary, ICS, said: “Our efforts were to raise awareness about the disease and the promotion of annual screening for the disease at an early stage when it treatable and curable. Lakmé and reaches Sabyasachi have to us with great generosity to our message far and wide.
